A bit of old school Flash web design
I was backing up my works on dvd when I discovered these masterpieces in a deep angle of my hard-drive.
They’re both music related Flash based multimedia content I did on 2002 and 2004. The Togaparty website was really futuristic for those years, with a scanned user interface and Flash animations. I left Flash in 2006 for web animation content, it’s so heavy and unuseful for the web browsing.
Aboout this subject, let me suggest you this article about Flash vs Web usability. You’ll understand a couple of important things. This little article was written by the master of web usability Jacob Nielsen in year 2000, and it explains why Flash breaks a lot of web usabilty rules. The title of the article is ” Flash: 99% Bad ” and here is the link ti read it http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20001029.html . Down here a summary.
“Although multimedia has its role on the Web, current Flash technology tends to discourage usability for three reasons: it makes bad design more likely, it breaks with the Web’s fundamental interaction style, and it consumes resources that would be better spent enhancing a site’s core value”
If you are interested on this subject, you should read the entire book “Web usability”. It’s a Bible.
